What Type of Stains can Be Removed by Laser Teeth Whitening?
Whitening can be useful in removing the two types of dental tooth discoloration.
Exterior Tooth Discoloration
Smoking and consuming certain foods and beverages that contain tannins such as carrots, oranges, coffee, tea, and wine can over time darken or yellow your teeth.
Because these stains are on the outer layers of your teeth, removing the stains is easier. Some whitening toothpaste can help eliminate these stains, but laser teeth whitening provides better more lasting results.
Internal Tooth Discoloration
This type of stain is usually caused by high levels of fluoride, tetracycline, use of antibiotics as a child, developmental disorders, tooth decay, restorations, root canal issues, and trauma. These factors cause internal changes to in the tooth enamel and the dentin, resulting in discoloration of the exterior of the teeth.
Because the stain originates in the interior of the tooth, professional whitening treatments like laser teeth whitening are needed to remove them. The use of whitening toothpaste’s or whitening strips will not remove them.

LASER TEETH WHITENING PROCEDURE
How is it Done?
During the procedure, your mouth must remain open and your teeth exposed, because of this, the dentist will use a rubber guard to help you keep your mouth open.
Afterward, the dentist will apply a protective gel to your gums to prevent them from coming in contact with the whitening solution.
Once this is done, the whitening solution will be applied to each tooth that is being treated, and a pen style laser is used to activate the compound; the laser will cause the solution to foam a little as it lifts the stains.
The compound will be allowed to remain on the teeth for a few minutes before being vacuumed with a special tool. This process will be repeated several times depending on the severity of the stain.
At the end of the treatment session, the dentist will carefully rinse your mouth and gently remove the protective layer from your gums and the guard.
