Men’s Health Secret Revealed

The Secret to Stay Young & Healthy

June is a special month, one in which we honor fathers across the nation, celebrating their love and wisdom. But, this month is also unique because it is Men’s Health Month.

At Revivify Medical Spa, we offer many treatments aimed at improving the quality of life of the amazing men in our lives. Given the observance of Men’s Health Month, we would like to address a condition that doesn’t get proper recognition, late-onset hypogonadism most commonly known as andropause.

Physicians have known about female menopause for a long time, but, it was only recently that doctors discovered that men also experience a similar transition involving hormone deficiency.

What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone present in both men and women, but it is more prominent in men.

Testosterone is most often associated with a man’s sex drive as well as playing a vital role in sperm production, but, this hormone has other critical functions including:

  • Facial and body hair patterns
  • Bone Density
  • Muscle Mass
  • The way men store fat in their bodies
  • Red blood cell production
  • Mood

What is Andropause?

Andropause is the result of a gradual age-related decline in hormones mostly testosterone, but also hormones like DHEA.

After the age of 30, studies show that men’s testosterone levels decrease by an average of 1% per year. Given that the decline is so slow, and the individual reactions vary, low levels of testosterone are challenging to detect. Another factor that hinders the diagnosis of andropause is men’s reluctance to discuss their symptoms.

Symptoms of Andropause

Symptoms vary widely from one individual to another, but, in general these are the most common symptoms of andropause:

  • Hair loss, including a decrease in body hair especially in the armpits and genital area
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Reduced strength and stamina
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Decreased testicle size
  • Enlarged prostate
  • Urinary discomfort or difficulty
  • Increased abdominal fat which elevates the risk of a heart attack
  • Increased levels of insulin, cholesterol, and triglycerides
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Diminished coronary artery elasticity
  • Weakening of the heart muscle
  • Moodiness and irritability
  • Lack of concentration
  • Memory problems
  • Decreased sex drive and arousal
  • Reduced sexual pleasure
  • Fewer orgasms
  • Erectile dysfunction

Which Factors Accelerate the Decline of Testosterone

In addition to age, there are some factors that will increase the rate at which testosterone levels decline, these include:

  • Being overweight
  • Smoking
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Depression or mental illness
  • Stress
  • Reduced sexual activity

These are all external factors that can be easily controlled. Adopting a healthier lifestyle can significantly improve your quality of life, exercising just 30 minutes a day, eating a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, cutting back on alcohol consumption, and not smoking are all steps you can take to slow down the rate at which your testosterone levels decrease.

Treatment Options

Early detection of hormonal imbalances is vital; early treatment will reduce the symptoms and prevent health complications from developing.

Typical treatment options for low levels of testosterone include pills, patches, gels, and creams. While these may relieve some of the symptoms, they do have adverse side effects.

Because andropause is a relatively new condition, most physicians are not aware of the breakthrough hormone replacement treatments available today.

At Revivify Medical Spa we offer the most advanced natural hormone therapy. Our Bioidentical Hormone Pellets are custom made to fit each patient needs including exact dosing and potency. In other words, we create a replica of the required hormone. We never use synthetic hormones since they have a higher risk of being rejected by the body, and usually come in standardized doses which may not be optimal for the patient’s needs.

The benefits of our Bioidentical Hormone Pellets include:

  • Improved energy
  • Increased strength and stamina
  • Enhanced mood and self-esteem
  • Improved concentration and memory
  • Enhanced libido and sexual function
  • Bioidentical hormones can help prevent certain types of cancers

Men’s fountain of youth is within reach, all you need to do is book a free consultation at Revivify Medical Spa, where our doctors will test your testosterone and other hormone levels and customize the right treatment for you.
